The Artist Behind The Work

Meet Karen Perieff

Karen Perieff fell in love with glass on a trip to Bullseye  Glass in Emeryville, California with her friend Bobby in the 80’s. OMG. Karen loved it!  She bought her first 10 pieces of glass there that same day and she proudly brought it home.  Her husband helped get her started cutting glass and humored her thinking she’d get over it in a couple months. Wrong. She’s still doing it.

For years Karen did stained glass but when she moved to Arizona she heard about fusing. Today Karen loves fusing even more than stained glass.
In stained glass, glass pieces are adhered with lead came or solder and copper foil. In leading, edges of came are soldered together at the joints. With foiling, the copper foil is wrapped around the glass piece edges and then all the foil is soldered.  In fusing, the glass pieces meld with heat using a kiln.
Karen loves doing animals and portraits. She takes a few classes every year to enhance her skills and her work. We hope you love her glass images as much as she loves creating them.
